Skitouring in the Westfjords

Westfjords, Iceland

„Blue sky – let`s go!“ - If there`s anything we`ve learned here while skitouring in Iceland, then for sure it`s how to quickly get our stuff together to start touring into the unknown. Thanks to the arctic streams and winds coming directly from Greenland, skitouring in the northwest part of  Iceland requires patience as well as full commitment, whenever some rays of sun manage to pervade the clouds. What one get`s out of this apart from cold toes and fingers? Perfect dry powder right down to the beaches along the many fjords, helpful and kind people  - quite in contrast to the harsh environment they`re living in - and the possibility to ski many unknown peaks. All together: a real adventure!
